Welcome
Our academy is an amazing and truly unique school in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne with children coming from over 40 different countries and speaking over 40 different languages. 
We are lucky to have a fabulous and enormous Early Years site where our youngest Nursery children (our 2-year-olds), up to our Reception classes, learn, work and play together. Together, we make our academy an exciting place to be, right in the centre of our amazing Benwell community.
We pride ourselves on how well we welcome new children into our family and how we care for each and every one of the children and staff in our school, holding wellbeing at the heart of all that we do. Our very special children, parents, carers and staff team work hard to maintain a “wonderfully supportive school”, where the children have a “strong sense of belonging”. It is our aim to create a safe family atmosphere where we can all feel happy, valued, respected and listened to, so our children are in the best possible place to learn. We are determined to create a truly outstanding school with excellent teaching and learning, inspired by our relevant and creative curriculum. This bespoke curriculum is specifically designed to be language rich, to develop vocabulary and to develop a love of and mastery of reading and writing. We aim to challenge our children so they leave us as confident, successful and ambitious young people, excited for their next stage of learning. We celebrate individuality and enable teamwork so that children enjoy school and are happy. Together we will ensure that our children receive the very best start in life, achieving all that they can.
We are lucky to have a fabulous governing body, who care as much about our academy and your children as we do. We are also proud to be part of the Laidlaw Schools Trust family of schools. Our Trust enables staff to work together to share ideas and expertise so that we grow and learn together. We tirelessly work to make a difference to the lives of children and communities across the North East, sharing high aspirations for all of our young people.
