Excellence in Pupil Development

1

At Atkinson Road Primary Academy, we believe in providing the best possible education for every child. Our commitment goes beyond academic success; we are passionate about supporting the personal development of all our pupils, ensuring they grow into confident, resilient, and compassionate individuals who are ready to take on the challenges of the future.

As part of our dedication to providing holistic education, we are currently working towards the prestigious Excellence in Pupil Development Award. This nationally recognised award celebrates schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to nurturing the emotional, social, and moral development of children. It acknowledges the importance of creating an environment where pupils can develop not only their academic abilities but also key life skills such as self-confidence, resilience, empathy, and responsibility.

We firmly believe that personal development is just as important as academic achievement. By fostering a positive, supportive atmosphere, we ensure that every child is given the tools and experiences needed to flourish both inside and outside the classroom. The Excellence in Pupil Development Award will further strengthen our work in ensuring that each child reaches their full potential, not just as a student, but as a well-rounded individual ready to make a difference in the world.

As we work towards this important milestone, we are excited to involve both our pupils and parents in the journey. Together, we will continue to build an environment that nurtures personal growth, supports emotional wellbeing, and prepares children for lifelong success.

The Excellence in Pupil Development Award offers a structured framework to evaluate our current practice and then create an action plan of targets to develop our policies, curriculum and partnerships further.
